It’s your responsibility to notify IUPPS of any digging, whether it is a major excavation project or a simple project, such as installing a fence or mailbox. If IUPPS is not notified and damage is done to the underground lines, it will be your responsibility to pay for the cost of the repairs. A simple call to the IUPPS could save you costly damages and possibly even your life.

Underground Locate Request Form
I hereby request Jackson County Rural Electric to assist in the location of a cable or fault in underground wiring owned by me. I understand that such assistance will be limited to the use of available personnel and equipment, which can be economically justified by Rural Electic management. Such assistance will be restricted to the use of available personnel and locating equipment for approximately one hour in the field. Fault location work will be scheduled during regular hours at the convenience of the Rural Electric and is not to include any excavation or actual replacement work. The Rural Electric will not perform any excavation or repair as a part of its services.
I further understand that there are technical limitations with the equipment available to the Rural Electric and that although the Rural Electric will do its best to locate the cable or fault it makes no guarantees or assurances of the accuracy of its findings. I release Jackson County Rural Electric from any and all liabilities, which may arise from its actions to assist in the location of the underground electrical cables or faults on my property.
