What could be simpler than having your electric bill deducted from your bank account automatically on the same day each month? You have that option with your electric bill with the REMC’s E-Z Pay Plan.
With the E-Z Pay Plan, your bank account will be automatically debited for the on-time amount on the 17th of each month. You’ll still receive a bill card at the first of the month showing your kilowatt hour usage and the amount to be transferred from your bank account. This allows you to maintain control of your account and question a bill before the funds are transferred.
Self-reading meter available on E-Z Pay
- As an E-Z Pay participant, you will also have the option of continuing to read your meter each month or having a meter installed that will automatically transmit a reading to the REMC on the 17th of each month. These automated meters, which are called Turtle meters, will also transmit data concerning power load, outages, voltage fluctuation and other factors that will help the REMC continue to provide you with the best possible service. We already have hundreds of these meters in service throughout the REMC system.
How do you join the REMC’s E-Z Pay Plan?
- To enroll in the E-Z Pay Plan, just complete an application form and return it to the REMC with a voided check or deposit slip from your bank account. Once the bank has verified the information, your billcard will include the message “BANK DRAFT - DO NOT PAY.” It normally takes about a month to complete this process.
