Why a Touchstone Energy® HomeSM?

 

Jackson County REMC has long placed a priority on energy efficiency, and customers appreciate the effort. Recent surveys confirm customers are overwhelmingly in support of the benefits of a well-insulated, electrically heated home.

After months of planning, Touchstone Energy Cooperatives in Central and Southern Indiana adopted a set of

qualifications for the Indiana Touchstone Energy Home.

An Indiana Touchstone Energy Home features:

 

l R-19 total wall insulation

l R-42 ceiling insulation

l Attic ventilation

l Conditioned crawl space with perimeter R-10 insulation & moisture control

l Double pane, Low-E windows

l Metal insulated exterior doors

l Infiltration control to help prevent air leaks

l Externally-vented exhaust systems in bathrooms and kitchen

l Exterior house wrap

l Heating and cooling ducts located in conditioned space

l Ultra energy-efficient electric water heating

l High-efficiency electric heat pump or geothermal unit

l House-wide moisture control and water management

The following building contractors have completed a two-hour review session covering the Official Building Standards for the Touchstone Energy Home Program in Indiana.  Building contractors are required to complete the standards review session in order to participate in the Touchstone Energy Home Program.
